Best Burgers In and Around Rye and Harrison
Got a hankering for a nice juicy hamburger? Maybe accompanied by some crispy French fries or a nice cold beer? As a local Realtor in Rye and Harrison, I can tell you there is no shortage of Sound Shore restaurants to satisfy your craving. Below are a few local burger joints to consider, along with some of their specialties:
The Craftsman Ale House
Located nearby the Harrison Metro-North station, The Craftsman Ale House is known for its top-quality beer from across the country (and occasionally imported from Belgium). And what could go better with that then their generously sized, eight-ounce sirloin burgers made of Angus beef and served on a toasted seeded brioche bun made exclusively for the restaurant? Westchester Magazine listed their PBBA burger – topped with beer-battered apples stuck together with gooey peanut butter and covered in melted cheddar – in it’s list of The 7 Most Creative, Crazy, And Downright Insane Burgers In Westchester.

Elevation Burger
Elevation Burger’s name comes from the burger chain’s desire to elevate the burger experience to another level. And it has delivered! According to the Lohud Food Blog post, 914Eats!: Three of the Best Burgers in Westchester, “The moment you bite into one you taste a difference in flavor…The real difference seems to be due to the grass fed, free range beef. It yields a clean, beefy flavor that, despite an extensive list of available toppings, can truly stand on its own.” If you’re hungry, consider the Vertigo Burger, which can be ordered stacked with multiples patties – up to 10!

Bareburger
Ever since it opened its first location in Astoria, Queens back in 2009, Bareburger has been on a mission to serve up a variety of organic burgers. Now you can take advantage of their offerings at their new location in Rye. You’ll have your pick of beef, bison, chicken, duck, elk, turkey, wild boar, or three distinct veggie options, with endless fixings. Highly recommended is the Wiki Wiki—a wild boar patty with duck bacon, chickpea onions, and pineapple relish on a brioche bun.

The Original WBC Burger is comprised of 10 ounces of prime beef, blanketed in smoked mozzarella, garnished with frisse, beefsteak tomato and pickles, and slathered in WBC’s secret sauce. The burger was recently named in Westchester Magazine’s Best of Westchester (2016) and was voted the magazine’s choice for best burger in the Hudson Valley. WCB offers 21 different signature burgers, each with an inventive mix of fresh toppings. For sheer insanity, consider the Entourage burger – a 10-ounce burger between two Texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches.

Everyone knows that this chic brasserie serves up some mean seafood, but their burger is no slouch! Ruby’s Grilled Bistro Burger, served with blue cheese, rosemary brown sauce, and pommes frites, is what the French deem “très excellente”!

Decisions, decisions, decisions! At Frank & Johnny’s, there are three burger options to choose from. You could always go for the Traditional Burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. But then there’s the Frankie Burger with melted blue cheese, applewood smoked bacon, and fried onions. And, the Johnnie’s Burger with Gruyere cheese, arugula, and sautéed onions. F & J’s special steak sauce and crispy French fries complete the meal. A little insider’s secret: the burgers are only listed on the lunch menu but you can get them at dinner, too, if you ask nicely!

This popular New American-gastropub and cocktail den just opened in Rye a much-awaited satellite of its Mount Kisco location. If you can get a table, make sure to spoil yourself with the Village Burger Patch, which comes with Cabot clothbound cheddar, Vidalia onion, umami aioli, and fries. Mmmmm.
